In a recent article, Best Practices in Fitting Hearing Protection for Musicians by Cory Portnuff AuD, PhD, he discussed how musicians are quite frequently exposed to high levels of sound during rehearsals and performances.
He talked about how these exposures significantly increase their risk of music-induced hearing loss (MIHL), which in turn decreases the ability of musicians to effectively perform.
Using appropriate ear protection, or hearing protection devices (HPDs) may help these musicians reduce their overall sound exposure.
If you are a musician, we definitely suggest using either custom made earplugs, or using earplugs with custom sized attachments, like Flare's Isolate, to get the best sound reduction.
